《尚书大传》卷二:微子朝周，过殷故墟，见麦秀之蕲蕲兮……曰:此父母之国。乃为《麦秀之歌》，曰:'麦秀渐渐兮，禾黍油油。彼狡童兮，不我好仇!'按，《史记．宋微子世家》亦载此事﹐微子作箕子。后因以黍油麦秀为亡国之痛的感叹。
变体黍油麦秀
